I learned the meaning of the word benign from my former brother in law Mitchell. Of course I knew the word but his personification of what it means to live that way was new to me. I will always remember his gentle smile whenever he started to tell me something he believed and would add I know you don't believe me Thank you Mitch for what you have left us. Much love Jim

Mitchell, or as Hamtramck Slim called you Mitch Miller, will be sad to hear you are gone from us. That Hamtramck Oasis you used to visit named Adam's Corner with so many characters who loved you is off to another Paralell universe also. Arnie North-Too Tall Tony- Bom Bom- Whitey- Black Jimmy-Alabama- Beck.. So many. Your kindness was rare. The world is a bit crueler now without you in it. May you enjoy the peace that is beyond human understanding Mitchell. Love, Andy Pie

Dearest Uncle Mitchell Without you, there is so much I would not have learned about life, love, and the importance of doing good and being kind. You opened up new realms of possibility, and urged me to be conscious of a world beyond the ordinary senses. I always tried so hard to see it I wanted you to be a proud uncle. Thank you. Now that you are gone, who will take your place as teacher, as guide to dreams and imagination To my question, I imagine that you would reply with your characteristic low, calm voice that you are not truly gone, that you are with us always and always, in spirit, a benign and friendly presence. All right then. I won't say goodbye. I wish I had had more time to hear your stories. May you find what you have been looking for out there. I love you very much.

Mitchell was the most wonderful older brother a girl could have. I used to go to him when in grief and he always managed to comfort with his wisdom and his kindness. He gave of himself in every possible way and always made sure others were taken care of before himself. He excelled in serving his country and he gave away most of his possessions and his money to help others. I am proud that he was my brother and hope I can learn from this beautiful, humble, yet brilliant man. We will have a memorial at my house in Whitmore Lake for Mitchell, (amenlove1@yahoo.com), Sept. 18, 2010 at 200 p.m. to remember him. There will also be a military internment of his ashes at the Great Lakes Military Cemetery with bugles and rifles to honor him and all he did.

Mitchell was a classmate of ours at DeLaSalle Collegiate, Class of 1952. Regretfully, we lost tract of Mitchell for many, many years and thus were unable to advise him of reunions, parties, class doings and updates. I have advised his fellow classmates of his passing and gave them this website to pass on memories from high school. We will pray for him and his surviving family. God bless, Bill Louwers
