Obituary of James McFadden Rayburn
James McFadden Rayburn, age 76, died peacefully in his home in Troy on June 4, 2010. He was born in "the house on Spring Street" in Ann Arbor in 1934. He attended Ann Arbor High and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp when he was 19. He attained the rank of Corporal. He fought bravely in the Korean War with the First Marine Division, Company D and also as an MP in Korea. Upon his return, he met and married Nancy Warner. They have four children; Jeffrey, Kathleen, Carolyn (Mark) Soetenga and James (Susan) He retired from Cadillac Electric (Premier Industries) in 1999. He loved muscle cars, art, and spending time with his family. He is survived by Nancy and their four children; four grandchildren, Michael (also a Marine Corporal), Matthew and Lucas Wesley, and Sydney Soetenga; brother, John; sister, Wilma; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 10:30am at St. Alan Catholic Church, 2345 Coolidge Hwy., Troy, MI 48084. James' final resting place will be amoung other veterans, like himself, in Great Lakes National Cemetery, in Holly, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Henry Ford Hospice.
