Obituary of Elizabeth (Betty) Goodman
Elizabeth (Betty) Goodman was born May 20, 1925; she was married to her husband Gilbert for 22 years and they raised 6 children. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Wayne State University and taught second grade at Monnier School in the City of Detroit for 25 years. Betty received several awards for excellence in teaching and loved teaching her young students to read. She passed on her love of books and literature to her children as well as many of her students. Betty was also a talented artist working as a sculptor and as a painter; her work was shown in several local exhibitions. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid camper and was called "Grandma Camper" by many who knew her. Betty is survived by her children Elizabeth (and George) Smojver, Gilbert (and Cathy) Goodman, Penny (and Craig) Perry, Carol Kitchen, Patricia (and Robert) Oates, Ron Bugaj, grandchildren George and Tim Smojver, Ron, John and Jeff Bugaj, Meghan (Hodge), Clayton and Samantha Perry; Richard Kitchen and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Jean Bugaj and grandson Andy Smojver. Donations may be made ot he Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America Michigan Chapter, 25882 Orchard Lake Rd., Suite 102, Farmington Hills, MI 48336. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
