Obituary of Marilyn Jean Przydatek
On July 28, 2020 our family lost the most loving Mom and Grandma the world has ever known.
Marilyn Jean Przydatek was born on June 8, 1933 to Dorothy Van Horne and Nicholas Ouderkirk in Johnstown, New York. In 1954 she married Stanley Przydatek (who preceded her in death), and the two were married for 62 years. She is survived by her son Michael Stanley Przydatek and his wife Diane Schulz Przydatek, her daughter Amy Jean Volante and son in law John Volante, and her grandchildren Victoria Jean Volante, Augustus Edward Przydatek, Nicholas John Volante and Francesca Lynn Volante. Marilyn was also grandma of the late John Michael Przydatek. She adored each of her grandchildren beyond measure. She leaves behind two special sisters, Evelyn Matus and Barbara Melnick Bernard.
A graduate of Amsterdam City Hospital Nursing School, she was a Registered Nurse for 30 years, specializing in geriatrics. A self-described bookworm since childhood, she was an avid reader. Her hobbies also included knitting, crocheting and embroidery, as well as hunting, fishing and camping.
Marilyn spent the last week of her life visiting loved ones in Michigan. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit, her fiery sense of humor and her unmatched culinary successes. Her large circle of family and friends was most important to her. A memorial to celebrate her life will be held at a later time.
