Obituary of Jean Smith

Jean Palmer Smith December 20, 1931-August 27, 2012 As a family, we would like to announce with deep regret that our Mother died August 27, 2012. She lived to be 81 years old. We will all miss her. Our Mother did leave us with many gifts. The first one was our belief in God. Our family attended St. James Church in Birmingham, Michigan, on a regular basis. She taught all of us manners, which is simply a form of graciousness that will get one through any situation, whether it is happy or sad. The manners she taught us were passed onto her, through her Mother, Jean Palmer Montgomery. As a young girl, Jean always longed for a large family. She felt very blessed that she did receive her wish. Jean is survived by six children. The eldest is her daughter Roxanne Smith Cronk, and son Jeremy, of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Her next son is Dean Smith, wife JoEllen, and daughters Nicole and Michelle, of Berkley, Michigan. Jenny Smith and her daughter, Amber Deedler, of Howell, Michigan are next in line. Jean's second son is Lee Smith, and wife Gina, and their children, Stephanie and Domenic of Royal Oak, Michigan. Lee was a very dedicated and loving caretaker of our Mother at all times. Jean's youngest son is David Smith and his wife Lisa and children, Max and Alexis, of Rochester Hills, Michigan. Jean's youngest daughter is Rosemary Johnson, husband Dean and son Eric, of Redford, Michigan. Jean spent several years living in St. Anne's Convalescent Center, Detroit, Michigan. Our family would like to extend our thanks to the entire staff of St. Anne's. They took special care of her, always helping to keep her active and cheerful. We would like to recognize the expert care our Mother's last attending Physician, Dr. Reddy and the staff, of St. John's Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. We will be eternally thankful to him. In conclusion, Jean has left behind a fantastic Legacy: her nine Grandchildren: Nicole, Michelle, Stephanie, Amber, Eric, Jeremy, Domenic, Max and Alexis. All of the children are highly motivated, kind and beautiful people. Thanks, Mom for our lives and the lives of our children. God be with you always.
