Alyce was such a sweet, gentle person with such a giving spirit and compassion for others. I'll always remember her beautiful singing, her love, and appreciation for animals and nature. I'm so blessed to have known Alyce and forever grateful for the wonderful ways she touched my life. You will truly be missed but so many great memories live on. Rest in peace.

How can I write a fitting tribute to the best mom ever!! Her talents are numerous Softball, basketball, majorette, drama, artist, writer, poet, speaker, singer, violinist, seamstress, great cook and homemaker. She was also beautiful, inside and out. What I will personally remember and treasure the most was the depth of her wisdom and her limitless giving. She helped me so much in my adult life by being my best friend. I even enjoyed talking politics with her! Her Christian testimony was lived out in her life – she also helped me to live out my own. I don’t know if I can leave as great a legacy as hers, but I can keep trying. I know that the best angel God could offer was dispatched to usher her into her Savior’s arms on September 23, 2020! I prayed that prayer for her close to the time she took her last breath on this earth and took her first breath in Heaven. My sorrow is great and my heart heavy right now, but I was able to offer a prayer of Thanksgiving that Jesus now had her in His everlasting arms. All that her loved ones could offer her on earth would never compare to what He instantly gave her when her life on earth was done. Halleluiah that we will see her whole again, together forever!

My grandmother was the most elegant person I ever knew. She could even clear her throat in an elegant way, roll her eyes and say good grief with elegance. She was beautiful and kind. She taught me to always care for others, particularly those who were vulnerable. She had a voice that you never forgot. She made her grandkids feel that they were the most special people and she just loved my kid, Violet. She will be missed but I'll always hear her in my thoughts. Know how to share her memory with my kid. Thanks, grandma for all you were and for being a truly great grandparent.

Memories of my mom are many, but actions last a lifetime. My Mom was the biggest Christian influences in my life next to my Dad when it came to living a Relationship with God. Her love and talent for music has inspired me too enjoy all kinds of music, even Opera, which was one of my mom’s favorite kinds. I had the great privilege to watch her favorite Musical (The Sound of Music, with her and my oldest brother, Greg) about a year ago and see her smiling through the whole movie. That was the last time I was able to hear a few notes sung by her during the Movie. When I meet all the people who was inspired by her gift of voice, the comments are all the same “Your mom has such a beautiful voice” Mom was there to dry my tears from my early fears of the elementary school bullies. She was always a realist when I told her I wanted to be an actor in Hollywood. She would always say “You can’t expect to be an actor or singer unless you get training. After I was in three Hollywood films that were shot in Detroit, she would say “It’s a good thing you got training. Its paying off. I give her the credit and God the Glory as I am so privileged to be singing in a worship band today. The advice that I did not take from my mom, cost me greatly on some occasions. But her knowledge of the Bibles promises on Love, Grace, Forgiveness, and mercy have always brought me through to the other side of God’s loving Hand. It is that Hand of God that now holds my Moms hand in heaven next to his throne and something to look forward to when I pass on and reunited with her in Heaven. -Jonathan D. Boynton (Gal 69)

My sincere, heartfelt condolences to Alyce's family at this time of sorrow. I'll always remember Alyce as being a kind, caring and loving person. I particularly remember the many lunches we shared and will remember that she shared with me the love and devotion she had for her family and for God. I believe we were kindred spirits in that we were on the same page in so many of life's experiences. Rest In Peace my dear friend. You are now in your beautiful heavenly home.

An amazing woman has gone to be with Lord. Alyce and I met in 1989 showing up at Oakland Schools for the same position! We were there before the bosses arrived to sort it out. There were two positions but the bosses were brothers for different departments and had the same last name! So we both began our time at Oakland Schools only feet apart. She was like a second mom to me helping me to grow, sharing experiences both work and life related. She was always dressed beautifully and not a hair out of place. Someone everyone would like to take after. We had several years of friendship and I will always cherish the talks and of course her beautiful singing. Still have the CD she gave me so many years ago. To Julie, my good friend and Alyce's daughter, my thoughts and prayers are with you. You have been an amazing daughter for your mother and she loved you so. Before we became friends I already knew you from all the stories your mom would share about you. I am happy she is no longer suffering. She is where she wanted to be.
