Obituary of John Lewis Jaquette
January 18, 1931 - September 24, 2020 Loving husband and father, John Jaquette, died peacefully on September 24, 2020 at his home in Westland after a long struggle with Alzheimers. John was born January 18, 1931, in Lansing, Michigan. He joined the Army in 1951 and was transferred to Tokyo, Japan in 1952 where he met the love of his life, Michiko. In 1952, John and Michiko were married. They returned to the United States in 1954. John raised two children, Jeanne and Lia and was the proud grandpa of two grandchildren, Cameron and Carli. He retired from his career in the railroad in 1993 and spent the remainder of his life being a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was very thoughtful and loved helping friends and neighbors.
We are grateful for each day we spent with him, the lessons that he shared and all the bad jokes that were told. He was generous, compassionate, and above all he cherished his family and friends. John was dedicated to easing Michis challenges that she faced daily with Parkinsons. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Michiko, father Frank; mother Lucille; sisters Norma and Reva, and brothers Carroll and Mel. He is survived by his daughters, Jeanne (Len) Jaquette and Lia Asztalos; grandchildren, Cameron and Carli Asztalos, and a number of other relatives and close friends.
Due to the restrictions concerning Covid19, we will not be having a memorial service. He will be interred at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in his name to the Alzheimers Association Greater Michigan Chapter.
