Obituary of John David "Jack" Linden
John David "Jack" Linden, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2020 at age 83. Jack was born on April 20, 1937, in Aliquippa Pennsylvania to John and Eleanor (McKinley) Linden. The family moved to Dearborn, Michigan when he was young and he graduated in 1955 from Sacred Heart High School. He enjoyed and participated in many school sports and shared fond memories of his school days and activities. He attended St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana where he studied business for 2 years. On August 1st, 1959 Jack married the love of his life, Mary Marie Thompson, at St. Clements Parish in Dearborn. They raised 3 children, Laura, David and Kevin in Westland, Michigan.
Jack worked for American Airlines at Detroit Metro Airport for over 30 years rising to Passenger Service Manager where he had a fulfilling career until retiring in 1992. He helped establish the family business, Linden Art Glass, in 1987 and later re-entered the workforce in the security department at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn where he worked for 15 years. Jack had a passion for travelling, camping, singing in his church choir, storytelling and collecting memorabilia. He had a quick wit and a big laugh, he loved working with people and enjoyed many friendships. He is survived by his wife Marie, 3 children Laura (John) Radley, David (Mary Walker) Linden, and Kevin Linden, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 4 nephews, and 2 sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Louise Lurins, Rita Linden, Edward Linden and grandson Robert Radley. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 30th, at St. John XXIII Parish in Redford, Michigan (12100 Beech Daly Road). Social distancing and masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
