Obituary of Gerald Joseph Malec
Gerald Joseph Malec, 71, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, October 25, 2020, at the Courtyard Manor of Farmington Hills, Michigan.
A heartfelt thanks to all the staff who served and helped care for Jerry at Courtyard. Born August 21, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Virginia (Czajkowski) Malec. He was the brother of the late Joseph Bienkowski (Gloria surviving), Rosemary Lauth, Dorothy Lahaie and Robert Malec.
A private service was held, at R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home in Garden City, MI.
Jerry was a graduate of Cody High School in Detroit, MI and continued his education at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit followed by a scholarship study at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Jerry also was an accomplished musician. After receiving his first accordion, as a young boy, he performed in concert with his fellow musicians, from Modern Accordion Studios, at the 1964 Worlds Fair in New York. Jerrys love of art and music followed him as he gave accordion lessons and worked in a music production business in concert promotion. He was an accomplished artist in both visual and graphic arts. During his career he worked in the advertising business specializing in product presentation and commercials.
Jerry had a wide range of interest and skills which lead to a wide variety of employment opportunities. He was a salesman at heart, managing sales teams and selling a variety of products as an Independent Rep. He eventually settled on owning his own company, Ultra Kleen Blind System which he ran successfully for over a decade, of which he sold and retired. Jerry lived in Sarasota, San Diego, and Phoenix before settling back in Michigan where he met Marsha. Jerry loved family and friends, travel, and vacation especially in northern Michigan. He had a passion for memorabilia collections, cars, boating, fishing, and golf. He got his prized hole -in-one at Sugar Loaf Resort. He loved to tell stories and reminisce about the good old days and enjoyed family celebrations.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marsha, sister-in-law Donna Schwab (Mike); brother -in- law Thomas Hill (Susan) and mother-in-law Shirley Hill (the late Henry) and also survived by many, many nieces, nephews and cousins (great and great-greats) and friends.
Contributions may be directed to your favorite charity, In Jerrys memory. That would be greatly appreciated.
