Hey Al...many, many years ago in San Francisco I met you after having met Bob. You were his 'bike across the country buddy'. I then moved to Detroit and finished my studies at WSU and was close to Bob for a few years. I am very, very sorry Bob passed and your long time friend moved on. It is like the wind got knocked out of me. Haven't seen him in decades but he stayed in my thoughts and in my heart. Peace. Mike Zimmerman

I am so sad to read this. I have known Bob for 10 or more years and he was a dear friend. He shared some of his books of his drawings with me and he was always fun to talk to. 2 summers ago we sat on grand river by west grand Blvd and drew the cityscape. He was always enthusiastic about life and loved animals. This past summer he plein air painted with my group at Cranberry Lake Farm in Oakland Township. He was a gentle generous soul. I miss him very much.

I am very sorry for the loss of Bob, he was a very kind man; always helping people. I have known Bob for about ten years, drawing with him at the Scarab Club, and going on Plein air activities. I am quite sad, and Bob will truly me missed by me. I would like to attend his memorial service.

I am so saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. I so enjoyed sharing our love of creating, and animals, whenever our paths crossed. Bob was deeply talented, with a generous heart. I will cherish the memory of our last painting session together, a socially distanced picnic and critique at Cranberry Lake Farm last summer. He was a very dear person.

I don't know anybody like Bob. He always had a story to tell and a great memory to go with it. He was generous with what he had. Bob and my dad (Al) were longtime friends and through that, Bob and I were friends. I worked in Richmond, where he lived for some time. I would see Bob driving around town and he would always give a big smile and wave. We shared an interest in history and Bob would stop by my office randomly with a book he'd come across. I always enjoyed talking with Bob. About a month before Bob passed, I arrived at my office to find a box of craft books from Bob to my wife and daughter. Thoughtful till the end. It is sad that he is gone. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 58

Bob Forever optimistic and upbeat. Unfailingly kind and thoughtful. Always intrigued by the many facets of life; interested in learning more... and like most of us, there was more to him than meets the eye. This obituary is such a lovely gesture that brings closure to his friends in Richmond. I and a group of friends would meet at McDonalds in the morning and talk politics or history. We gave Bob a farewell party as he was getting ready to move to his new home in Detroit. He would call me on and off from Detroit, just to chat. I had missed his calls for several months and my messages remained unanswered. So it was quite a shock when I heard of his passing. My Condolences to the families. Rest in Peace! Bob was more than a friend, he was family! I am so lucky my dad and him became friends because Bob was one of those individuals your glad you got to meet. He had so much insight on life and was very knowledgeable. He always saw the best in everyone (me) and he always was willing to lend a hand. We always had moments of joking and having fun each time. I’m sad that I didn’t get to see him before passing but I collected some of his books and some of his amazing artwork pieces and I know talking about them, he’s right there with me. Bob I will make sure your legacy continues on. Till next time, rest easy Uncle Bob.

Bob was a book cover. It was only when you opened it did you start to read a great novel, He was joy and tragedy. Bob told stories and knew Detroit in a most intimate manner. He would talk with authority on any subject bringing humor and truth in the telling. His art was a passion not boastful but a need to keep working at a craft until it becomes art. I did not know Bob well only from the Life drawing classes at FIA but he brought light and joy when he was in the room. When you finish reading a novel and say that you really loved that book, you will love and miss Bob dearly. Rest in peace my friend. .

Bob and I were best friends for over 40 years. Our lives were different, but we could talk for hours, and then not for months. He liked everyone and everyone liked him. But then sometimes not so much. -) It's a Bob thing. He was by biggest fan and he loved my family. We had a good ride Bob. Enjoy your rest. Forever, Al
