I am so sad to learn of Richard‘s death. He supported me during my political campaigns for many years in Livonia. He was very happy and proud to win a watch at one of my Wayne county commissioner fundraisers at the Detroit yacht club. I think him for many years of service to me other candidates and projects of the democratic clubs.Rest in peace Richard!

He was truly a light in this world, and for our little world of Democratic politics, his light shone so bright. He was quick with a smile and words of encouragement and tough questions about how we could solve this or that policy problem. I’m much better for having known him. May his spirit ride up and may his memory always be a blessing and a comfort for his daughters and all who knew him!

I always knew that if I answered the phone when Duke called, I’d better have 45 minutes or an hour to spend. Every minute was well worth it, listening much more than talking if I was smart! Richard was passionate about his community, about his country, and about helping his fellow veterans in need. He may be gone from this mortal Earth, but there are many others to whom he passed some of that passion. He will be remembered.
