Obituary of Bruce Douglas Joerin

Bruce Douglas Joerin - Obituary Bruce Douglas Joerin passed away, peacefully in his sleep, on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the age of 83. Bruce was born in Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Alice (Monahan) on February 18, 1937. Bruce was an alumnus of Michigan State University. He also served in the Army National Guard and was honorable discharged. He was an executive with the National Bank of Detroit. On August 11, 1962, he married Priscilla Ann Masonis. Bruce and Priscilla had two daughters, Stephanie and Sarah. Bruce had a lifelong passion for aquatics. He was a competitive swimmer in his youth and also at collegiate and master levels. He shared his passion for swimming as the Director of Aquatics at the YMCA in Royal Oak, Michigan. He taught swimmers of all ages. He created programs for those who wanted to enjoy swimming beyond competition. Bruce also was a generous supporter of the YMCAs Strong Kids Campaign which raised participation fees for children in need. He was also an amazing artist. His home is filled with still life and animal drawings. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Alice, his wife Priscilla and his sister Kathleen Sapeniza. He also lost his close friend Karen Jean Johns in April 2020. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Joerin (Christopher Horning) and Sarah Babinski (Kevin) and his grandchildren Hannah Priscilla Joerin-Horning and Nolan Masonis Babinski.
