Dr. Moseley was my professor more than 20 years ago at Wayne State University. I though of him today and discovered this notice. I am grateful for him. His kindness, work, teachings, and the things that I learned from him influences my daily decisions at work. I have to say, inscribed in my heart are both professional and personal memories from the library of the life he lived. Thank you Dr. Moseley. <3

I believe this is the same James Moseley who was principal of St Rita High School in Detroit in the late 60’e, early 70’s. I graduated in 1971. In 1970 I went on a 6 week trip to Europe with 180 kids from the Archdiocese of Detroit. He was the head of the program. I was the only student from St Rita’s. So you will believe I got a little special treatment, especially as I was valedictorian of my class. He let me take a side trip in England to visit my family overnight, as long as I took another student with me. When he took some of us on a separate excursion to Munich and told us “no drinking” he caught us in a beer garden but gave in to us having one beer. He was a very class act. My memories at St Rita’s will always include him. I’m glad he went on to have an illustrious career in education.

I had the honor of having Dr. Moseley has a professor back in 2010. Over the weekend, I was going through an old box of papers and school-related binders and found the binder from his class. I started to go through it, remembering what an exceptional class it was having him as the professor. I was actually planning to email him today thanking him again for such a wonderful experience 1-+ years ago. Instead, I learned of his passing from a year ago. I was saddened to learn of this, but he made a difference in me as an educator so his legacy lives on!

In the summer of 1983 Dr.Moseley served as a member of the admissions committee at Wayne State School of Medicine. He interviewed me and somehow convinced the committee that they should offer me a spot in the Class of 1987. To him I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. We kept in touch regularly over the years and celebrated together at my son’s white coat ceremony in 2018. He will be with us in spirit 35 years from the day of my graduation as my son graduates with the Class of 2022. God Bless Dr. Moseley. His memory will live forever in our hearts.

I was very sad to learn that Dr. Moseley is no more. I had the privilege of working with him as a Graduate Research Assistant and we had co-authored several articles together. He was a great mentor, always kind, compassionate and encouraging. We continued to work together on scholarly articles and manuscripts several years after he retired and I changed positions. I still treasure the keepsakes that he would bring back from his trips, near and far, and the personalized gifts that he had gifted. He was a true scholar, a great teacher, friend and a wonderful person to know. May his soul rest in peace.

I am saddened to learn of Jim's passing. Jim was a kind and gentle soul who dedicated much of his life to supporting his students, myself included. Jim was an incredible mentor and friend and my life is better for having known him. He has spread his wisdom far and wide and his legacy will live on in the work of the many persons who's lives he has touched.

I felt very sad when I learned of Jim's death. What a kind, gentle, intelligent person he was. I worked in the Dean's Office in the College of Education, and every now and then he would bring us some of his delicious homemade baked goods, often a cake! It was always the highlight of some busy days. Jim's private library is full of many kindnesses to many people!

When I first arrived at Wayne State University, as director of philanthropy for the College of Ed in 2013, I remember how Jim greeted me. It was mid-December break and I was eating lunch alone in the Student Center. Jim walked up to me and introduced himself (as he had missed my introduction to the College of Education at a recent faculty meeting). He asked me several questions about my background and what brought me to WSU. I also learned a great deal about Jim's life and career. His warm welcome left a deep impression on me. That day and every time I saw him afterword, he was gracious and kind. His warmth will be missed.

Dr. Moseley was a class act and a wonderful man. He did so much to push to the field of Learning & Development forward and he will be greatly missed by the Wayne State University community and beyond. Thank you Dr. Moseley for giving me the opportunity to be published in one of your textbooks and believing in me more than I believed in myself. You helped shaped my graduate school experience and that knowledge pushed my career forward. It was an honor to know you. Rest In Peace

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news of the passing of my mentor and friend. I worked for several years as Dr. Moseley's Graduate Research Assistant. We co-authored several articles together. He was a true gentleman. I was struck by his deep love for his family, particularly for his beloved sister. I am very grateful for his unfailing support and his confidence in me. May he rest in peace.
