This was a clock he found in the trash and gave to my husband to repair.

Jim had a huge curiosity about the world. His mind was always open to new things.
I remember we used to go for coffee at Jim' Gifts on Chene Street. The gift shop was long closed but he used to refer to it as "Ghetto Coffee". He used to go out junking and on a particular visit, you never knew what new collection you would be surrounded by. Once it was old wooden clocks. Lots and lots of them. Some of them worked. Another time it was old lunch boxes. He would build a huge collection of one thing, the sheer quantity of what he had made you want to have it. Just using his own keen eye and quirky sense of humor he created Instant Collectibles. I have since seen that stuff in magazines.
After he had moved to his current house, we often went to Jim & Jenine's for coffee there too. Everyone liked to drink coffee at their kitchen table and talk about the issues of the day and people's quirky solutions to them. No solutions were quirkier than those from Chene Street.

I can remember several times in my youth waking to my cousin Jim sleeping next to me after being out late with our other cousins Kieth and Bill. Being twelve years older than I, I looked up to my big cousin/s and envied their rebellious and free natures. Jim was a true son of the 60s keeping the light of Lennon and Dylan burning bright throughout his life. That isn't to say he wasn't met with the Shakespearean tragedies that beset us all at one time or another throughout our lives. However, he took every experience as his own to make his, and those around his life better. You will be greatly missed Jim, but never forgotten.
"Don't underestimate the importance of happiness. As long as you're happy, who cares what you do?"
