Obituary of Kurt Thomas Harnick
Kurt Harnick, 62, of Midland, MI passed away peacefully on March 15, 2021, with his devoted wife, Vicki Scott, by his side after an extended illness.
Kurt was born on July 15, 1958 in Midland and graduated from Midland High School in 1976. Kurt had an entrepreneurial spirit at a very young age, earning the prestigious DECA award which spawned a lifetime of business ventures, starting with Harnick Shoes in Gaylord, MI, and ending with over 25 years of ownership of Detail One in Midland.
Kurt loved boating and fishing and was known for hosting fish fries and even delivering dinners to his neighborhood friends. He also loved watching sports, Nascar racing and trips to the casino.
Kurts greatest love was that of family, especially his grandchildren, Brandon, Megan, Kenzie, Aleah, Andrew, Wyatt and Abi. Kurt spared no expense when it came to vacationing and creating beautiful memories with his wife and grandchildren. He was also devoted to his father, especially after the loss of his mother.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Vicki Scott, and step sons Jeremy (Jessica) Garver and Joshua (Lynda) Garver.
Kurt is also survived by his father, Jack Harnick, and seven siblings, Steve Harnick, Jan (Joe) Lincoln, Karen (Michael) Sharpe, Theresa (Tom) Spann, MaryKay (Don) Asch, Julie (Kirk) Shangle, Jim Harnick and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Kurt was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Harnick and sister-in-law, Susan Harnick.
Kurt never met a stranger and will always be remembered for his sense of humor. He was always the life of the party and lit up every room he walked into. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him - especially his wife - who was totally devoted to his care for the past two years.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family would recommend donations to MidMichigan Home Care Hospice or a charity of your choice.
