Obituary of Anthony Leonard Savona
Anthony Leonard Savona March 6, 1952 - February 17, 2020
Anthony ("Tony") Leonard Savona, 67, of Clinton Township, Michigan, succumbed to his battle with Frontotemporal Dementia ("FTD") on February 17, 2020 while surrounded by his family. Beloved son of Lena and the late Leonard Savona. Loving father of Anthony (Shannon), Michael, Kathryn (Bryan) Walter, and Joseph (Kelly). Tony was survived by his former spouse and friend of 22 years Deborah Savona. Beloved brother of Mary Jo (Ron) Quaglia, Josephine (Steve) Ries. Dearest grandfather of Mya, Leah, Dominic, Joseph, Gabriella, Juliana and Geovani. Tony was also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that he so fondly adored. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend.
Tony was born in Detroit and grew up in Saint Clair Shores where he spent many days playing baseball with neighbors who became his lifelong friends. They called themselves the "Shady Lane Gang". A proud graduate of South Lake High School and Wayne State University, Tony pursued a career in financial planning ultimately founding and operating a successful business for over 25 years, Sterling Financial Network, Inc.
Tony was a family man who cared deeply about his children. He was always by their side supporting, encouraging and most importantly giving unconditional love. He had many different interests including golf, music, travel, his dogs, reading and spending time with loved ones. Tony especially loved sports and had a passion for coaching, he was known to many as COACH SAVONA. Through coaching he impacted many lives and taught valuable life lessons. He was a natural motivator with a knack for instilling confidence and self-belief.
Tony had a fun loving, larger than life personality with a contagious smile. He will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Tony on Friday March 6th as follows:
Service: 10:00am @ Grace Lutheran Fellowship Church 7525 32 Mile Rd, Bruce Township, 48065
Interment: Resurrection Cemetery for immediate family between service and luncheon
Luncheon: 11:30am @ Villa Penna Banquet 43985 Hayes Road, Sterling Heights 48313
