Obituary of Lee Hunt Wagstaff

Hello friends and family. As many of you have heard, our dearly beloved husband and father, Lee, passed away on Sunday, September 25th, 2011. While we don't have complete clarity from a medical perspective, we are blessed in the knowledge that he did so without pain or suffering in the company of wife, Helen. Lee was a strong and reliable man and a devoted and caring father of unparalleled character. He shepherded his family by example, demonstrating amazing drive, unimpeachable integrity, and a sense of right and wrong by which you could set true North on your moral compass. Lee is survived by his loving wife Helen, his children William, Thea, and Steven, his grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Steven, Shaun, Brandon, Lexi, and Sydney and his great grandchild, Braidyn. Lee and Helen met in 1955 and married just nine days later after a whirlwind romance. Inseparable, they lived, loved, and raised their family together in southeastern, lower Michigan. Lee exemplified the very essence of perseverance and resiliency. Having faced a terminal medical prognosis over two decades ago, he not only willed himself to overcome, he thrived and gained a newfound appreciation for life and family. In recent years, Lee and Helen spent winters in North Ft. Myers, Florida where he enjoyed golf and was an avid bowler, having recently rolled a near 700 series. We will eternally cherish our final round of golf together this past summer, which comprised three generations of Wagstaffs, including his Grandson Brandon, who takes his middle name Hunt, from Lee. Perhaps not known to everyone, Lee had a passion for creative writing, and was, in fact, a budding screenwriter, having submitted a few such screenplays, receiving critical praise from entertainment companies, like CBS, on more than one occasion. In keeping with his unassuming character and desire to not burden others, our dear father's wishes were to be laid to rest with only his immediate family members present on Tuesday September 27th, 2011. We do, however, appreciate your kind thoughts, prayers, and support during this time and would suggest that in lieu of flowers, perhaps consider a small donation in memoriam of Lee with the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org/Involved/Donate/index) or the Salvation Army (donate.salvationarmyusa.org/).
