I worked at Paris Cafe in downtown Detroit and Kathryne was a regular and valued customer. I am deeply shocked and saddened by her death. To say that Kathryne suffered fools lightly is an understatement, and I loved that about her. She is one of those people I will never forget. I wish her a peaceful journey.

So sad. So sad. Professor Lindberg was my favorite professor during my days at Harvard. A wonder, a marvel, a whirligig, lightning in a bottle. Rest in peace dear Professor Lindberg.

Kathryne, you joined the WSU faculty as a professor the year I became a grad teaching assistant. You lost your beloved husband Murray the same year I lost my mother. We both knew a lot about grief. You were a brilliant, funny, kind woman, and I will miss you, but I'm glad you are at peace.

Auntie K, I will sure miss you as I had been looking forward to talking about books and politics with you for many years. You will always remain one of my hypothetical readers of whatever prose I might someday let out into the world.

Dr. K, as I called her, had a mental brilliance that was too luminous for my brain. She tried to force some of that light in...I hope some made it. She had a boldness and an adventurous nature I wish I could have had more time to appreciate. We had unfinished work together that may never be completed, but one thing is sure, I will never forget her, her influence in my life and academics, and she will have a place in my heart, forever. God comfort her family, colleagues, and students.

I first met Kathy when we were both graduate students at UCLA. She was always a dynamic, wondrous, joyful, brilliant, playful, loving colleague and friend. We experienced the qualifying exams together, the discoveries of new critical schools, the death of John Lennon, the quiet pleasure of sipping coffee in Chris's kitchen...I miss her deeply.
