I recently was cleaning out my room at home and found a report I did in elementary school about a hero. I had chosen Aunt Carol. I talked about what a wonderful and strong woman she was. However, I didn't know then, what a strong influence she would have on my life. Although I lived 2000 miles away, you two have been examples to me of love, generosity and hospitality. It was not just in the kind words and gifts that you two gave, but in the love you showed to eachother and everyone around you. In my marriage, I strive to be as loving and warm as you and Aunt Carol were. I miss Aunt Carol so much already, but her influence lives on. Uncle Pres, you are in our prayers and hearts. We love you!

Dear Richard and Rickey I am so sorry for your loss. Carole was not only my Godmother but also part of my family since I was a child. Even though we did not see each other as often as I would have liked to, the closeness was still there when we did. She had such a wonderful outlook on life. You were both lucky to have such a wonderful wife and mother to love and who loved you back as well. We will all miss her very much.

Richard, I am sorry for your loss. Carole was such a sweet person who had a great attitude about life. She used to tell me that she viewed every day left on earth a treasure and every day she got up a gift. She never complained. I will really miss her. Love, Linda

Carole was my aunt, my mom's sister, and I loved her very much. She has been part of my life for as long as I can remember playing board games at the cottage in Canada, looking after me when my parents went on a vacation, hosting a lovely party for my bride-to-be when we visited Michigan. And oh, the holiday feasts! Her generous nature represented by the endless different courses and the hours (days) of cooking. But what I am most grateful for and will always remember her for was the way she cared for my mom from the time my dad died over 25 years ago right up until her passing just over a year ago. Aunt Carole and Uncle Dick saw my mom through many ups and downs and provided constant love and attention. I don't know what she (or I) would have done without them. Uncle Dick, I am so sorry for your loss. The way you took care of her in recent years was touching. You were a good husband and we will always have our good memories of your wonderful wife. Bill, Shawn, Michael & Amelia

Some people go their entire lives and never meet someone as caring, giving and selfless as my Aunt Carole. I was lucky enough to have her special presence with me my entire 48 years. Uncle Richard, you got more than 60 years. Im jealous. After my heart attack, she used to tell me that every day was a gift. She also set a good example of how to use each and every day. I can never thank my Aunt Carole or Uncle Richard enough for their guidance, love and patience, all of which helped me become the person I am not to mention all the joyful memories stretching back as far as memory allows. Half a great team is missing, but all of the love still remains. Its said that God gives a person life so that they have something precious to give back to Him. Well, hes gotten something very special back indeed. May He who makes peace in the heavens grant peace to all who sorrow. Amen. Love, Joe, Cheryl and Adam

Dear Uncle Pres, How do you sum up 30+ years of knowing such a wonderful person Aunt Carole was always a dear relative to me, her sweetness always made her known as Aunt Christmas Carole to my family. She was generous, wise, loving, and always had a compliment for all of us girls. I never heard her complain, and when I needed advice, or just a listening ear, she was always there for me. We are so sorry for your loss, Uncle Pres, and we will all miss her so much. Be strong, we love you! Allen, Judy, Dan (& Gina), Kim, and Alicia )

Dear Mr. Merrell. Carole, your lovely wife, has gone to get her reward for the good life she has lived. It was at Federal-Mogul, where we both worked for many years, that I had the pleasure to know her. She was always wonderful in every ways, and we became very good friends. Even after more than 20 plus years of retirement I always looked forward to see her at our monthly get-together. Our luncheons will never be the same without our dear Carole. Dear Mr. Merrell (we always called you Dick, but I want to be polite...) to you and to your family I offer my deepest sympathy. You stay present in my mind and prayers. So is my friend BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL CAROLE.
