Obituary of James Frederick Vincent

Age 97, died May 5, 2020. Born January 1, 1923, Jim was a lifelong resident of Lansing, MI; a 1942 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School. He is a Veteran of World War II, serving both as an Army Medic and in the Army Core of Engineers, stationed throughout Europe, and awarded with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal, among other recognitions. After his service, Jim attended Michigan State University and MCMT. He retired from The Motor Wheel Corporation in 1986 after 38 years of service as a Draftsman Supervisor. After retirement, he enjoyed photography, golf, painting, and being Mr. Fit-It, chauffeur, and comic relief for his family, always making sure to take care of everyone and everything, with a big smile on his face. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, June (Smith) in 1993; his parents James Collins and Cecilia Elizabeth (Ware) Vincent; brothers Charles (Maribelle) and Frank (Helen); sisters Betty (Joe) White and Dorothy. Surviving are his 3 daughters Melissa Vincent, Michelle Tavakoli, and Melanie (Spruce) Wheelock; 4 granddaughters Renee Tavakoli, Sarah (Matt) Scholz, Audrey Tavakoli, and Kathleen Dreisig; and extended family, including many nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at The Church of the Resurrection in Lansing, MI. Contributions may be made in Jims name to Church of the Resurrection School Scholarship Fund or Disabled American Veterans.
