Obituary of Dorothea E Wreesman
Dorothea Wreesman (nee Westerby), age 94, August 25, 2013. Dorothea was born on September 4, 1918, to Carl and Pearl Westerby in Port Clinton, Ohio. At the end of WWI, her family moved to Birmingham, MI. They continued living in this area the rest of their lives. She started school at Adams School (the same school her son attended). Dorothea also attended Pierce and Barnum Schools, graduating in 1936 from Baldwin High School. The ironic part is where the school used to be, is where she parked her car while living at Baldwin House. After graduation, Dorothea went to work at Pecks, as a bookkeeper, where she met her future husband, Theodore Wreesman. There were married in January 1941, and built a home in Troy, where they lived for 54 years. After 2 years of marriage, Ted went into the service for 3 years. During most of that time, they were together in Florida and Tennessee, until he was sent to Germany for a year. After Ted returned from the service, they returned to our home in Troy and started their nursery business. Their son Tom was born in 1947. After Tom served 3 years in the service, he married Colleen Craig. From their marriage were born 2 children, Carly and Theodore. In 1979, Dorothea and Ted retired and spent many years in Pompano Beach, FL, during the winter months. Upon Ted's death in 2004, after 63 years of marriage, Dorothea moved into Baldwin House, where she lived until her death. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 11am, at the First United Methodist Church, 1589 West Maple, Birmingham, MI 48009.
