Obituary of James Robert Law
James R Law, Sr passed away September 1, 2013 at home with family and the sound of his youngest grandbaby laughing. He would have loved the send off and hearing that baby laugh as he left this world for the next. James was born January 18, 1941 in Belleville, MI to Adelbert and Pearl Law, the youngest of 4 children.
He is survived by his wife, Martha L., his children, James R Law, Jr, Allison and Ken Speaks, and Heather and Michael Moore. Grandchildren James and Charlene Law, Patrick Law, Jennifer and William Kidney, Staci Speaks, Christopher Moore, and Ken Speaks, Jr,. Great grandchildren Tyler, Drew, Alissa, Mary, Maverick, and Andrew. His stepchildren, TJ Mraz, Rebecca and David Weeks, and Amy and Kevin Johnson, his step grandchildren (who he always considered them his) Breanna, Donovan, Rhenier, Jack, and Benjamin.
Jim served in the US army for 3 years and retired from GM after 36 years of service. Jim was a member of AA and had maintained his sobriety for 37 years. He often said that his one true purpose in life was to help other alcoholics find their sobriety and that he wouldn't have been able to do without going through the process himself. Jim learned to ride a motorcycle when he was 56 years old and eventually rode through the entire 48 states during one season. He loved woodworking and photography. His passion was his yard and flower gardens. Jim had a great sense of humor and found joy everywhere he looked. He loved and he was loved.
