Obituary of Helen P. Sisto
Helen (Vandana) Sisto passed away just short of her 92nd birthday on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Four Seasons Nursing Home in Westland. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth (Judy) Cram and her parents Richard and Helen Palmer.
Vandana was born in Salem, New York on July 26, 1921. She studied piano and voice at Eastman School of Music and Julliard and taught piano lessons in her home. She supported the arts, the humane treatment of animals, and protection of the environment. She also had a keen interest in astronomy and science fiction. Vandana chose Swami Vishwananda as her spiritual guide for the Vedanta form of Hinduism.
Vandana is survived by her husband, Armando (Val) Sisto, and children Yolanda Mitts, Heather Sisto and Wayne Sisto. Her grandchildren are Kurt & Eric Mitts, Lindsey and Kelsey Collins, Michelle Arnold, Melissa Sisto and Melanie Andzelik. She also leaves behind 5 wonderful great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held in August.
