Obituary of Raymond S. Pawlowski
We are saddened to announce the passing of Raymond S. Pawlowski on May 29, 2016 at the age of 92, who lived in the Port Huron area for nearly 40 years. He was a World War II veteran who fought bravely in the PO valley campaign in northern Italy in 1944. He participated in the battle for Riva Ridge where he and his 10th Mountain Division brethren scaled vertical mountain cliffs to eliminate Nazi machine-gun strongholds.
Mr. Pawlowski was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in the European- African Middle Eastern Theatre of Operations. He also received the Combat Infantry Badge, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Efficiency Honor and Fidelity Medal, the WWII Medal, and the Expert Marksmen Rifle Medal.
Mr. Pawlowski worked in the construction building trades for nearly 40 years retiring from Pipefitters Local 636 at the age of 63. He had a reputation as a very hard worker and passed this attribute onto his children. He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Julia Pawlowski, his 3 children; Raymond J. (Linda) Pawlowski, Robert (Gail Billings) Pawlowski and Stephanie (Gerald) Matt, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He will be missed.
