So sorry for your loss. Although I didn't know Max well, it was a pleasure to see him from time to time. I am Glenn Kriese's sister.

I took several psychology classes taught by Max Brill. His classes were always full; I remember one class where he continued to accept additional students until he ran out of seats so the students had to move desks in from other classrooms. Part of his popularity, I'm sure, stemmed from his policy of no mid-terms, no finals and no papers. Just a quiz at the start of each class and after the break. The funny thing was, at least for me, that I still remember many of the things he taught. He may have been a little quirky, but he believed in Skinner and used those principles with his students. He will be sorely missed.

I will miss walking the Oakland University track with Max and certainly miss the lectures that he gave me each time. It was enjoyable to debate a point with him. So Max, as we used to say,see you tomorrow if the dam don't break or the creek run dry.

It was sad for me to hear that Max Brill had passed. I was a phychology student and Professor Brill helped me through the course work of his Motivation class. I finally earned an A. That was in the Fall of 1993. I don't remember all the professors from back then but he was special. He gave me the determination to reach my academic goal. Today, I have my Ph.D. and I owe it, in part, to Max.

Some things you think you'll never do--like write a condolence message for such a dear friend. Paul and are I certainly sad. We don't remember not knowing Max. He was part of our everyday life. Can't go down any memory lane without talking about Max. We even have Maxisms in our conversations. One of the true fun and interesting characters of life. Death comes to everyone, but wow, some have a bigger punch than others. We hope you are doing well, Mary. Best wishes to you and yours.

Many years ago, I was married to Barry Platt, a PhD student who studied with Max. Barry spoke very highly of Professor Brill, and I was fortunate to meet Max and Mary at their home. They welcomed me to their home and worked intensely with Barry. Max was a good influence for Barry, and challenged him intellectually. Max will be missed by his students and all of the people he interacted with professionally and socially.

Max was a great asset to our Torch Club. He brought a human behavior viewpoint to understanding our dinner presentations. Behaviors that at first appeared to be absurd were logically & patiently explained by Max. We'll miss Max. He can't ever be replaced.

My encounter with Max at the Torch Club was brief, but inspiring. Few people in my life have grabbed onto me with such eyes of interest and sincerity. Thank you, Mary. I will miss him.

I don't know whether anyone is still monitoring these messages and I'm so sorry I missed Dr. Brill's memorial service but I just wanted to say that Dr. Brill had a HUGE impact influence on me while an undergrad studying psych. at OU. He introduced me to Skinner, behavior analysis, scientific methodology, and just good ol' clear thinking. I was also impressed that he wasn't a stuffy acedemic--he was always willing to listen to students and go out and have a pizza & beer to socialize, as well as discuss the deep and burning questions of life & living. Thank you Max for helping me get into WMU's psych program--this further helped mold and shape the professional I've become. You were a very complex and fine person--you will be greatly missed! JV

We discussed music, religion, philosophy, and anything under the sun--Dr. Brill listened and was respectful of very different points of view (as long as it was well thought-through). Max's personal attention and intervention helped me get into WMU's grad. psych. program (bastion of behavior analysis)--this further helped mold and shape the professional I've become. Mary, my condolences, Max was a very complex and fine person--he will be greatly missed! JV
