Obituary of David F. Rentschler
David Rentschler
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 2, 1933 to Carl and Grace Rentschler, he ended his journey here on Earth on March 14, 2013 and now has joined God in His Universe. He was loved and adored by his wife Dianne and his family, Douglas ( Leslie ), Amy Rentschler Hyde (Albert ) and Brian. He is also survived by his loving brother Donald ( Esther ) and sister Susan Reiff ( Allan ). David was blessed by his grandchildren Lauren Rentschler, Charles and Samuel Hyde and Eve and Alex Breitmeyer.
He was an exceptional man, respected by his many friends for his unwavering loyalty and integrity. He graduated from Detroit University School in 1952 and The University of Michigan in 1957. He was so proud to have earned two varsity letters in football at Michigan for the 1955 and 1956 seasons. Dave was very active in the community and served in many prominent positions within The U of M Club of Greater Detroit, The Varsity M Club, The Golf Association of Michigan, The Senior Men's Golf Association, The Lochmoor Club and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He spent many hours coaching Little League teams, most especially Red Barons and took great pleasure in working with young people. In recent years he looked forward to working with school children at the JAPC Tutoring Tree. He served as an elder of Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church, where he and Dianne were married in June 1958. After serving as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force, he returned to Michigan and started his business career at National Bank of Detroit. In 1973 he purchased the Wm Beyster Co., a lumber & millwork firm in Detroit. He owned and operated Beyster, Inc. until the building was sold in 2008 and at 75 years of age he started his retirement. He was a leader among his peers, a dedicated family man and a superb husband.

We will be remembering David and celebrating his life at a memorial service at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church on April 22. The family will receive visitors at 2:00 PM, the service will begin at 3:30 PM.
