Obituary of Carolyn L. Shimmin
Carolyn L. Shimmin, former Saginaw resident, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Northville, Michigan. She was born December 11, 1911, in Owosso, Michigan, a daughter of Floyd and Clara Beaver Miller. She married Frank Shimmin in 1941. He died in 1995. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands: Ann and Thomas Thompson of Northville, Michigan; Jean and Darrell Wilburn of Arnold, California; four grandchildren: Karen and (Patrick) Calhoun of Huntington Woods, Michigan; James and (Theresa) Thompson of Oak Park, Michigan; Lance Wilburn of Boulder Colorado; Gregory Wilburn of Los Gatos, California; four great grandchildren; Anna Calhoun, Russell Calhoun, Cody Thompson and Wyatt Thompson. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother: Bonnie Corp, Esther Pryer and Riley Miller. She was a member of the DAR and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saginaw, the Germania of Saginaw, the Culture Club of Saginaw and the El Conquistador County Club of Bradenton, Florida. Memorial Services will take place at 11 a.m. on April 17, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 777 West Eight Mile Road, Northville, MI. Rev Dr. Steven Buck will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
