Obituary of John J. Imo
John Jacob Imo Died March 28-2016 at the University of Michigan Hospital after fighting a lengthy illness. John was 65. Born in Monroe on April 1st 1950 to Frank and Roseann Imo. John was the 3rd child of 4 and the only son. John is survived by his wife Marilyn Imo of Newport, his son's; Bill (Marcy) Moore of Monroe and John (Jane) Imo of Monroe, Marilyn's daughter's; Marci Biundo of Southgate and Natalie (Mike) Rountree of Berkley , two sisters; Barbara A. VanderVoord of Jersey Village TX. and Mary (Charles) Lanham of Monroe, as well as 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in the death by parents, Frank and Roseann Imo of Monroe and one sister Kathryn S. Lindquist of Port Charlotte, Florida.
John graduated in 1968 from Monroe High School, he went on to enlist in the US Navy and was honorable discharged, upon his return he continued his career in the grocery industry after working at many local businesses. He was able to fulfill his dream of becoming a business owner. In 1980 John purchased Gruber's Market on North Monroe Street and renamed it Imo's Food Market. Then in 1998 he started a new venture and became a partner of Grafton Inn/Hall in Carleton MI until his retirement in 2009.
As per John's wishes he has been cremated and no services will be held, the family appreciates and is very grateful for your condolences but declines flowers and donations.
