I too was a student of Mr. Nolan. Waaaay back in 1969. In an era of questioning authority, he taught us to ask our questions with respect. God bless the family, my sincere condolences.

I knew Don not as Donal but as Terry - more correctly as Uncle Terry. He was one of 7 siblings including my mother. I have many memories of Uncle Terry dating back to the early '80's when he drove the most beautiful canary yellow Ford F-100 4WD truck named Big Bird. He loved that truck and frankly anyone would. He took the time to ask both my sister Tara and I questions about anything and everything but he actually thought deeply about our answers. As a child this was rare but I can see from all the comments from his former students I wasn't alone. His sense of humor was unparalled - he'd laugh and then you couldn't help but laugh. He got it... Smart is an understatement when it comes to Terry. He will be greatly missed although I find peace knowing he is happier now. God bless you Terry.. Love, Chris Sam & Sydney

Mr. Nolan was our high school teacher. He changed the way we learned...he tought us to question authority - yet in a thoughtful and respectful way. The best teacher ever (and we sort of met each other in his class - 27 years of mattiage now). His greatness still lives...

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Don at Pontiac Catholic. Over the years I have often thought of his integrity, strength, humor, and conviction. We learn and grow from our experiences. Thank you, Don.

Don Nolan made a lasting impression. As another of his Pontiac Catholic students, I can attest to his impish humor, wit and wisdom. He was the first teacher I encountered who encouraged his students to question commonly held theories, fight the status quo and think for ourselves. If there are group discussions in the afterlife.... they just became more raucous and far more interesting.

Since I wasn't a very good student, most classes didn't hold much interest for me other than Mr. Nolan's. It was truly one of the classes I looked forward to going to, did my homework in and enjoyed the lively discussions. He truly touched your life with teaching!

I am a grateful student of Mr. Nolan who taught psychology before it was cool, helping to open my eyes to the wider world and the importance of critical thinking. As a teacher, I am trying to do the same. Thank you Don!
