Obituary of Robert Earl Marowske
Marowske, Robert Age 75, Passed away in Florida on January 12, 2004. Beloved husband of Corliss (Maienschein) Dear father of Gary (Kathy Chuba) and Kyle (Joe) Clor. Loving grandfather to Kerri and Troy Marowske and Trevor and Tylor Clor. Brother of Betty (Arnold) Dahlke and the late Roy Marowske. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Marowske graduated from Denby High School in Detroit, Michigan. He was the founder of Flame Furnace in 1949 which became the largest Heating & Cooling contractor in Southeast Michigan.
Robert was the President of Historic Trinity, Inc. He was a member of the President's Board of Concordia University in Ann Arbor. He also served on the Board of The Children's Home of Detroit, the Lutheran Church Michigan District President's Advisory Council and the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army.
A past director of the Detroit Athletic Club and member since 1978, Robert also was a member at one time of the Detroit Golf Club, the Country Club of Detroit, the Grasslands Golf Club of Lakeland, FL and the Lone Palm Golf Club of Lakeland, FL. He also belonged to the Hundred Club, the Grosse Pointe Senior Men's Choir and was the Secretary of the Lutheran Luncheon Club.
Living by his quote: 'It is better to give than receive,' Mr. Marowske was a supporter of the Goodfellows, Friends of Vision, Lutheran High School Association, Lutheran School for the Deaf and Valparaiso University.
For his hard work, and unselfish contributions Robert received many awards during his lifetime -- Lutheran Layman of the Year, National Heating & Cooling Contractor of the Year, Volunteer of the Week and an Honorary Degree from Concordia University.
Traveling with his wife, family (especially the grandkids) and friends meant a lot to him. Christmas and singing carols (with or without the choir) were also meaningful favorites.
Baseball and Hockey did not slip by Robert; he was an avid baseball fan holding season tickets for many, many years. He followed the 1968 Tigers' team to Lakeland, FL for Spring Training and made Lakeland a second home. The Olympia and Joe Louis Arena saw Mr. Marowske in season-ticket- seats for a number of years as well.
A Memorial Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, the 24th of January, 2004, at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, 1345 Gratiot Ave., Detroit.
