A Memorial service will be held at the Scarab Club, 217 Farnsworth, Detroit, Michigan 48202, on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 4-6 pm.
Jackie was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, to Suzanne (ne Burns) and Edmund John Hosking on September 23, 1929. She attended the University of Western Ontario and completed a graduate degree in Library Sciences at the University of Toronto. After a short time in Windsor working at the Windsor Public Library she moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan where she worked as Children's Librarian at the Grosse Pointe Public Library for nearly 40 years.
Jackie was generous of her time and spirit and throughout her life had so many wonderful and kind friends who returned that love and friendship wholeheartedly. She loved to entertain and no crowd was too large or diverse that she couldn't handle. All were welcome to visit Glen and Jackie's treasured, Troy farmhouse, which was the setting to many holiday and wedding celebrations with family, and many, many friends. Jackie was also an avid reader, gardener and lover of dogs, all of which she was able to dedicate her time to upon retirement.
Big-hearted, determined and always game for a new adventure she will be greatly missed by family and friends of all ages. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her memory to:
