I am extremely saddened to hear of Debra's death, having just learned a few weeks ago of her illness. I've known Debra for at least 15 years. She was an NAPR member and served on the Board of Directors and on various committees with me. She presented at meetings and was a bright and energetic young businesswoman. When I struggled with the illness of and then lost my best friend, Susan Esposito, to cancer 5 years ago, Debra was always there with a kind word of concern and caring. I wish I'd known earlier about her illness so that I may have had an opportunity to possibly brighten her day. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Sincerely, Julie Sherriff Sherriff & Associates, Inc. 4200 Somerset, Suite 256 Prairie Village, KS 66208

To those of us who had the pleasure of knowing Deborah as a business associate, peer, competitor and friend I offer this. Deborah exuded creativity, honesty, integrity, business savvy, a dynamic work ethic and a caring spirit. She handled her business the right way, ethically, honestly and without regrets. She was willing to help a competitor, client or candidate even when it might not have made “business sense” to do so. I will miss the way she could make you feel as though you had never lost touch, even if you hadn't spoken in months. Her abilities to cut to the heart of the matter and solve problems were characteristics that I oft admired and tried to emulate. What truly made Deborah special, I believe, were her fiery spirit, dogged determination and her heart. She cared deeply about her family, business, employees, friends and others of us in the industry. She was not selfish. She was self-less. I hope we each realize that the legacies she gave us are more than just those of a professional, dynamic and friendly competitor. I know I do. I have lost not just an ethical, business associate, who was extremely successful and well liked, but also a person I counted as a friend.

I was very sorry to read about Debra's passing. I knew Debra through her work with the Junior Achievement organization. Debra was a consultant in the program. she taught a personal economics class to my students as part of her volunteer work. Debra was a great inspiration. She had a vivacious personality and was a real go-getter. She made a huge impression on me seemed to care about me as a person. Even though I had not seen her in several years, I thought about her often. I doubt that she truly knew how important her generous acts of kindness meant to those whose lives she touched.

Debra was a very special woman. We always looked forward to seeing Debra at our association (MANA) meetings. Deb was a true visionary about the health care business and we often had memorable conversatons that revealed her high level of integrity and knowledge. We admired her ideals, valued her opinions, and enjoyed her fun personality. The dinners she sponsored at our annual meetings were always a wonderful time to chat and get to know others that also worked for Debra. We also enjoyed meeting David for the first time in Orlando (we sat across from you at the restaurant) and compared experiences at raising teenaged college aged daughters! We will miss Debra immensely. Her generosity and support were unmatched and her friendship was precious. Our deepest sympathy to David and Katherine. We will continue to keep Debra and both of you in our thoughts and prayers. Respectfully, Barb and Steve Barnett

Dear Family of Debra, Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Debra. I first met Debra in 1988 when my company, The Northwest Group and Saber-Salisbury & Assoc. worked together to create their first real brochure. We interviewed her about her business and what made it unique. What I learned is her passion and commitment to people was palpable. And she loved what she did. Over the years we worked together on many additional projects and found ourselves talking, business woman to business woman, mom to mom, friend to friend. She was an exceptional woman and someone I truly admired and genuinely liked. It's rare in business to be able to hug someone when you say hello before a meeting and then give them a hug when you leave. Debra was one of those rare people I had the priviledge to know. I will miss her smile and her infectious laugh. She was one of the classiest ladies I've ever known.. Sincerely, Diane Putvin

My Dearest Debra I am writing today to tell you how much I miss you and that you are one of the dearest people I have ever known, and a real friend. Together, we started out meeting each other at Lakeside hospital in Detroit-you in Human resources, and I as a very young CRNA in the operating room. After a short span of a year or two, I think, we each went our separate ways, until as God would have it, I believe, our paths crossed and together, we started the part of your business that employed CRNA's. I was the first to go out into the field, and my assignment was in Ludington, MI. We were not even sure how much to charge, but I said that they needed me, and don't worry, they will pay the fee, and sure enough, they did, and that's how it all started. I remember calling you many times to update you, and sometimes talking with your little lovely daughter, Kathryn, who was so sweet to hear over the phone. We went through many trials and tribulations during this tremulous period, but the rest is history. I remember when we had dinner together and discussed so much about what was happening in our lives. You comforted me at Christmas time when I felt so awful about a personal loss-I looked forward to all of your beautiful cards and still have every one of them!! I even came up to see you in Southfield when Ellen was still with you, just for a visit. It would be the last time I would see you-Life is just too busy, and this I regret so much. I had heard about your illness, and wanted so desperately to see you and to comfort and to pray with you, but had to engage in these things at home in my quiet time with the Lord, praying for you to Him.I had heard that you preferred not to see people.I can understand it- As I had mentioned to you many times in the past, I felt and still feel that medicine has not won out against this disease that you suffered through, and I wonder when any breakthrough will ultimately arrive Chances are not good-I believe that the approach is still all wrong. The world is just too toxic laden. But.... Debra, I know that you now know, as you behold your Saviour's face that life in His presence far transcends any thing that we who remain can possibly have on this planet- The Bible states that because of Jesus and His sacrifice for all mankind, that death is swallowed up in victory. I also know that the times for all of us here in the world are getting shorter, and Christ's return is imminent and possible in this generation. I plan to see you again in heaven with all of our loved ones who have trusted HIm. The wonderful thing about LOve, my precious friend Debra, is that it never dies. Thank you for being the wonderful lady, mentor and friend that you have always personified. May you live on eternally in peace and joy. With much love, your adoring friend and colleague Norma Koleta Norma R Koleta CRNA

She mentored many CRNAs into the world of self-employment. She was a strong supporter of our profession and we have appreciated her presence over the years. Our hats are off to DEBRA and our prayers and thoughts are with you! We will always remember her fondly.

I feel grateful and blessed to have known Debra over an extended period of time as her friend and trusted advisor. I am a richer and better person as a result of this opportunity. Debra's direct, no-nonsense approach to life and business and her indominable spirit made for a lot of fun and effective interaction between us over the years. It was Debra who first advised me to establish my own law practice and sing for my supper. Debra will be missed. I feel sad, but at the same time comforted in knowing that her spirit will live on in ways both understood by us and known only to God. I feel good when I think of Debra. I pray now for her family who face the most difficult challenge of all. God bless them and help with their healing in moving on with their lives. MJB
