Obituary of Douglas Edward Robertson

Douglas Edward Robertson, age 62, died Sept. 8, 2017, joining the parents who supported him until their transition earlier this year. Born January 3, 1955, he was the second of four children and only son of Edward and Mary Ann (Cylk) Robertson, recently of Brighton, Mich. He graduated from Bentley High School in Livonia and Control Data Institute, then worked as a security guard for many years, and more recently at VG's grocery store in Brighton. Doug loved animals, especially wolves, and his family dogs and cats. He enjoyed playing chess, watching "Scooby Doo" and The Marx Brothers. He was an ardent student of military history and liked to walk three miles a day while he was capable of it. He was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, on the autism spectrum, when he was 50 years old. As his neurological condition deteriorated, he moved to Medilodge of Howell for his last two years of life, where he continued to read the newspaper every day. He was loved by his sisters, Noel Robertson, Anita Guethlein and Nicole Robertson, who survive him. He's also survived by several neices and nephews. Memorial donations in his honor can be made to the Michigan Humane Society, www.michiganhumane.org/.
