Obituary of Janice Marie Jones

Janice Marie (Reau) Jones, age 66 of West Bloomfield, MI passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at home. She loved the Lord and was close to the Blessed Mother and now is resting in their arms. Janice was born January 22, 1951, the first of seven children of Wilfred and Helen (Dings) Reau in Adrian, MI. Raised in Blissfield, MI, she graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian in 1969. Janice then earned a Nursing diploma from the Maumee Valley School of nursing, graduating first in her class. During summer break while attending nursing school, she met her future husband, Cody Jones, the brother of her friend and classmate. Janice and Cody were married on Thanksgiving weekend 1971, before both returning to their respective schools. Following graduation and becoming a Registered Nurse, Janice followed Cody to New York and worked as a RN while he finished earning his Doctoral degrees at Cornell. After their return to Michigan, Janice worked as a pediatric nurse for eleven years. She later combined her passion for healing and helping others with her deep and unshakable faith to transition from nursing to teaching spiritual classes. This evolved into assisting others over the phone with prayer and spiritual advice. Twenty years ago, Janice and Cody became charter members of Unity of Farmington Hills Church where Janice became the leader of the Sunday School program. More recently, she started a soup and bread ministry where she would prepare homemade soup and bread to share after the Sunday worship service. Janice enjoyed traveling with Cody, visiting places such as Hawaii, Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Yellowstone Park, Sanibel Island, FL, and the Grand Canyon. Closer to home, one of their favorite venues was Kensington Metropark where Janice loved watching the Sandhill Cranes. She was elated when the Sandhill Cranes began visiting her right on her back patio several years ago! Janice also took joy in observing the ducks, geese, swans and deer just feet from her back door. Janice will be remembered as a kind and gentle spirit, an artist, a talented musician, and as a gifted woman of remarkable intelligence and ability. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, step-brother, Gary Zibbell, and sister-in-law, Pam Zibbell. Mourning her passing are her husband of 45 years, Cody Jones, step-mother, Lola Reau, and siblings: Betty (Terry) Diefenbach, Linda (Charlie) Knotek, Phyllis (Wayne) Escott, Brian (Christy) Reau, Mary (Lorne) Curtis and Rita (Zell) Eisenmann, and step-brother, Brad Zibbell.
