Obituary of Lois Elaine Longe

Lois Elaine Longe (Fox) passed away on September 14, 2017 at Heather Pines after a long illness surrounded by loving family and prayers. She was born in Waseca, Minnesota, grew up on a farm, and was active in 4H Club. While at College, she met and married the love of her life, the late John H Longe Jr, and together raised 9 children. She enjoyed walking her dog Scruffy, reading, gardening, sewing, crocheting, spending time with family. She was active in St Mary's Church, Royal Oak, Michigan, volunteering both at mass and as a Eucharistic minister delivering communion to the homebound seniors. In her Huntington Woods community, she volunteered extensively including her position as past Chair of the Elections Committee, past president and member of the Huntington Woods Women's Club, Study Club, Garden Club, Seed n Sod Club among others. She liked doing crosswords, playing Bridge and Pinochle. She also acted as a Beaumont Hospital volunteer. Perhaps one of her favorite hobbies was to travel and she did much of it with the Nomad Travel Club that took her all over the world. She is preceded in death by her parents Peter and Sylvia Fox, husband John H.Longe Jr, son Brian V.Longe, brothers Percy, Howard, Joe and Leonard, son-in-law Gregory X Espina, granddaughter, Melissa Longe She is survived by her loving children, John Longe (Linda), Patricia (James) Kaminski , Michael (Anne) Longe, Terrence (Barbara) Longe, Maureen (Robert) Barber, Bruce (Susan Hess) Longe, Sharon Longe Espina (Calvin), Gerald Longe and 24 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition, Sister- in - laws, Marge Fox, Harriet Fox and Micki Fox; Brother in law Thomas Longe; Sister - in - laws Betty Longe and Mary Hasten (Longe) A mass in her memory will be held at St Marys Church, with burial planned at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, Heather Pines-Activities, the Capuchin Kitchen, Fr. Solanus Casey Center.
