Obituary of Richard Martin Tod
Richard M. Tod, age 75, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2017 at Angela Hospice after a long heroic battle against many health issues. Rick was born on November 3, 1942 in Detroit Michigan to Herbert and Florence (Miles) Tod both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen (Bandli) Tod, sisters Judith (Tod) Janke, Roberta Tod, brother Randall (Debbie) Tod, in-laws James & Nancy Bandli, David & Christine Hall, daughters Laura (William) Couger and Wendy (Rodney) Duffe. He was the loving grandfather to Charles, Kathryn, Jeffrey and Kaylin and loving uncle to many. Rick was a proud graduate of Hillsdale College and ran a successful Manufacturers Representative Company until the day he passed. Rick was a multi-sport athlete in high school and college and continued his passion for golf throughout his life. Rick not only loved life but also had the gift to see the good in people. His sense of humor brought joy to all he encountered. He was the ultimate optimist which was exemplified by his 70-year passion for the Detroit Lions. Ricks love of Christ was a shining light to the rest of us. He will be missed by his many friends and relatives but we take solace in the fact that he is in heaven looking over us. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 13 at Saint Michael Lutheran Church in Canton, MI at 11 am to celebrate Ricks life. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ricks name to Angela Hospice in Livonia, Mi or Saint Michael Lutheran Church, Canton, MI.
