Obituary of Robert Earl Anderson
Robert Earl Anderson passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at age 89. He was a resident at WoodHaven Retirement Community in Livonia since 2013. Bob was born in Highland Park, Michigan on May 29, 1928 to parents Carl and Charlotte Anderson. He graduated from Cooley High School in 1946. Upon graduation Bob joined the Army and was stationed in Japan during the years immediately following WWII. After serving his country, Bob returned to Detroit where he married Barbara Schroeder in 1950. They were happily married for 62 years until Barbaras death in 2012. While raising his family in Inkster, Michigan, Bob was an owner/operator of a milk route with Wilson Dairy and would get up at 4:00 each morning to deliver his milk. Once the home delivered milk business slowed with the arrival of the supermarket, Bob sold his business and became a salesman for Huron Steel where he enjoyed that job until his retirement in1990. Over the years Bob, Barbara and their children spent many wonderful days vacationing in Traverse City and northern Michigan. As empty nesters they continued to visit Traverse City for weekend getaways whenever possible. Bob and Barbara also owned a doublewide trailer on a 40 acre tree farm in Fife Lake, Michigan during the 1970s -- 80s. Vacation days spent here were joy-filled and active. Bob loved to work on his trees and to take long hikes through the woods. Bob took particular joy with his family. He had a basement pool table that became a gathering place for the sons-in-law as did the many penny-ante poker games on the kitchen table with all the family members. Family gatherings on all the holidays became a tradition for years. Bobs son, Robert E. Anderson, Jr. (Debbie) preceded him in death in 2013. He is survived by his three daughters Cheril Hartman (James); Janis Boyless (John); June Daly (Patrick), and nine loving grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Robert Anderson will be cremated and his Memorial Service will be celebrated on May 5th at Woodhaven Retirement Center at 10 AM. Please share a memory of Bob by signing his guestbook.
