Beloved Grandpa - I have too many wonderful memories of you to count. You built my miniature doll house and soap box derby car, you braided my hair, you loaded my car with peanut butter and snacks so I would not go hungry in college, you gave me the low-down on men and dating, you rescued me on your motorcycle from teenage angst and drove me to meet your cool friends-other old dudes in Detroit, you came to visit me in California, flew to my wedding in St. Croix, you answered the phone and picked up the phone, you gave me gardening and cooking tips, you loved me, loved me, loved me. And I love you, love you, you. My gratitude is great. I know this physical existence became to hard for you to stay so I wish you every good in heaven. I'll find you there one day and we'll play bid whist, eat sweet potato pie, and laugh loudly. Your granddaughter, Monica Lee Copeland

Dude - I know you smiled as you were greeted by Grandma and Aunt Louise with your brothers. I will miss those Saturday morning calls, but it was your time to transition to a happier place! I learned so much throughout the years, and thank God that I inherited your independence, your strength, your mother-wit, and kindness of heart. You will always be with me and I will cherishlove you always. Your daughter, Mary Allean

What a great man! He left behind generations who think of him with so much love and respect. He watched the world change around him and was able to move through it with kindness and grace. He warmly welcomed me into the family over twenty years ago and for that I will always be grateful. Grandpa was wise, funny and could talk trash over spades with the best of his kids and grand kids! We love you, and miss you.You have fought a good fight, you have finished the course, and you have kept the faith. (2 Tim 47) May His peace be with you til we meet again.

Dear Ms. Essie, Mary, Lowender and Calvin, Weeping may endure through the night, but joy comes in the morning. For all the many years that I knew Mr. Spearman, he was a kind gentleman. He was industrious, hard worker. He was loving to his wife, children and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; my nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-niece. He attended their special events birthday celebrations, graduations, weddings with a special gift in hand. I will sorely miss his presence and quiet spirit. Love to the entire family
