Obituary of Helen Marie Perry

Perry, Helen (Holly) Marie 89, of Waterford, passed away on May 17, 2018. She was the widow of Jacques (Jack) Perry who died in 1997. Holly was born on December 13, 1928, in Croswell, Michigan, to Parry and Jennie Baer. She earned a Bachelors of Education from Central Michigan University and married Jack on June 18, 1950. Jack and Holly built their first home in Waterford then moved to West Bloomfield where they raised their 5 daughters. Jack and Holly shared their love of learning with their daughters, taught them to care for animals and to enjoy the outdoors. The family spent summers at their cabin on Lake Margrethe in Grayling. Holly was an elementary school teacher. She taught in West Bloomfield from 1951-1962 and Waterford from 1962-1985. In 1963 she earned a Masters of Education from Wayne State University. After she retired from teaching in 1985 she earned a Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan. Jack and Holly enjoyed their retirement, summering in Harrisville, Mi. and wintering in Inverness, Fla. Holly was an avid reader and traveler. She and Jack took several trips to Europe and around the United States. She enjoyed playing euchre and solving crossword puzzles. Holly's family and friends will miss her wise advice, positive outlook on life and her devoted love and support. As well as her parents, Holly is preceded in death by her husband, Jack, daughter Rosemarie Croskey, grandson Dan Herring, Jr., brother Parry Baer Jr. (Helen), brother George (Doris), sister Margery (John) Cramer. She is survived by her daughters Renee (David) Tanner of Waterford, Rebecca Perry of Waterford, Ramona (Randy) Lee Sr, of Pontiac, Rhonda (Dan) Herring Sr. of Ft Myers, Fla.; grandchildren Sarah Perry, Randy Lee Jr, Anthony Lee, Amanda (Allen)Thomas, Miranda Lee, Jordan Lee, Derrick Croskey, George (Iris) Herring, Jr, Kristi (Jasmin)Torres, Stephen Herring and 19 great-grand children, several nieces and nephews and friends. She was a member of St. Perpetua Catholic Church and MARSP. To honor Holly's wishes no memorial service will be held.
