Robert Bielat Born in Detroit, Michigan Resided in Ferndale, Michigan A generous and compassionate spirit, Robert Bielat left us suddenly at the age of 69 on December 13, 2018. He was a loving husband and kindred soul to his wife, Veronica (Bostek) and an essential and valued part of the sculpture community in Detroit. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and students. Robert was a gifted and prolific sculptor, his work recognized in a number of major exhibitions and collected throughout the Midwest. During his long tenure as Professor of Ceramics and Sculpture at Schoolcraft College, he was an inspired mentor and guide to his many students and assistants. His lusty soul, love of life and art, and loyal, kind and warmhearted friendship continues as the energy that surrounds us and carries us forward. We will never forget the sound of his laughter.
