Obituary of Shirley Ann Stewart

Shirley A. (Staugaard) Stewart September 28, 1929 ~ December 28, 2018 Shirley A. Stewart of Chesterfield Township passed away on December 28, 2018 at her home. Shirley was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 28, 1929 to the late Hans and Anna (Davidsen) Staugaard. On April 6, 1949 she married Fred J Stewart during a civil service in Detroit, Michigan. With Fred, Shirley raised a family in East Detroit, Michigan. Shirleys children James Stewart (Jan), Thomas Stewart (Mary), Robert Stewart, John Stewart (Karen), Patricia Kryscio (Ken), Michael Stewart (Josie) and David Stewart. Eight Grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. After son David was born, Shirley started college and then worked for 18 years as an elementary school teacher for the East Detroit, Michigan school district. After retirement Shirley moved to Antrim County MI and enjoyed many years as a golf member at Antrim Dells. Her favorite time of golf was when she would score better than any of her children. When not golfing Shirley took up the craft of making sock clowns and over time estimates she made 300-400 as gifts to family and friends with small children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and son, Tom Stewart. No services are planned at this time.
