Obituary of Acil Lou Wilson

Acil Lou Wilson Acil Lou (Holder) was born March 11, 1931 to the late Daniel and Viola Holder in Pontiac, Michigan. Acil was the middle child of three girls. Her sisters, Goldena (Coky) Holder Seay and Harriett (Jean) Holder Glenn Arnold both preceded her in death. She was educated in the Pontiac School System. She grew up in a christian home and as a young child, Acil dedicated her life to Christ. In 1946, Acil met and married Linzie Sherrell, Jr. and to this union 7 children were born. Acil's life revolved around her children. Her youngest daughter, Cynthia Sherrell Squire Blackwell, also preceded her in death. Acil was always a social activist who was involved in many, many things which garnered her many awards and accolades. She worked tirelessly with the UAW Local 600 Women's Committee, the Detroit Unity Optimist Club, the Monday Night Prayer Circle and the Picnic and Fashion Show Committee. She worked over 35 years with the Southeastern Michigan March of Dimes, helping to raise thousands of dollars for the prevention of babies born with birth defects. She belonged to two chapters of the Red Hat Society, one in Detroit and the one in Pontiac. In 1994, Acil retired from the Ford Motor Company after 22 years of loyal service. Acil loved her church, traveling and shopping. She was known for her many stylish hats and outfits. Acil leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Edna Linzie Williams, Carolyn Hindmon, Patricia (Marcellous) Taylor, Ricky Sherrell, Vince (Brenda) Sherrell and Michael (Yolita) Sherrell, Sr. Everyone knows about her "23 FAVORITE" grandchildren, Harry, Robin "Cricket", James, Sr., Isaac, Andre G., Sharon, Angela, Louwana, Omari, Dion J., Eric, Andre S., Michael,Jr., Anthony, Raymon, Ramon, Destynee, Indigo, Sepia "Duchess", Nicole, Tammy and Lavell. Surely, everyone knows about her "53 FAVORITE" great grandchildren, and let us not forgot about her "41 FAVORITE" great, great grandchildren. In her passing, she leaves her sister and best friend from another mother of over 50 years, Mrs. Signora Houghton; her very special companion/friend, Mr. Thomas Snowden "Honey"; her friend, Mrs. Willa "Bice" Robinson; her adopted daughter, Ms. Frances Doretha Whiters; one uncle; two aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family too numerous to mention.
