Obituary of Eric Alan Wiegand
Eric Alan Wiegand, 76, passed away peacefully at St. Josephs Mercy Hospital Oakland on January 29, 2019. Eric was born to Arlington (Bill) and Margaret Wiegand on March 31, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the loving brother of Margery (Jeff) Manley of Central Lake, MI and Christine Slenzak of Studio City, CA, who were with Eric through his final days. A loving uncle to Lisa (Rick) Casciaro (Danville, CA), Christy (Matt) Kauffman (Danville, CA), Brad Neilson (Northville, MI), Robin (Dominic Norris) Andrews (Duxford, England) and Betsy (Brad Austin) Slenzak (Sherman Oaks, CA). He was under the superb care of Doctors and Nurses at St. Josephs Mercy Hospital.
Eric graduated from Michigan State University. He was a Bronze Star recipient while serving in Vietnam from 1969-1974. His successful work career included both graphic design and video and film production in the advertising and marketing industries. Eric was a long time resident of Sylvan Lake, where he helped to establish the Sylvan Lake Annual Garden Tour, served on the city council and was instrumental in many community efforts. Eric could be seen daily throughout the neighborhood on his bike, roller blades or walking his trusted dog.
