Obituary of German Martin
German Martin was born in Banes Cuba on June 29, 1930, he married Nelly Rose and they had 3 children. He later married Rafaela Sinclair with whom he had 2 children. For the last 35 years, German was a loving husband to Donna Martell Martin who loving cared for him through his transition, at the age of 89 on November 17th2019. German worked at Guantanamo Naval Based Station where he was the fire chief. One of his talents was mastering and preparing great meals from combining ingredients that were available, what he called making a "Flip". In 1964 he left Cuba after being pressured to work for the government and run the National Bank of Cuba because he was quite the Mathematician, as a result, he exiled to Kingston Jamaica. German came to the United States in 1965, where he lived in New York and worked in Wall Street at Chase Manhattan Bank. As a part of his application process he obtained a perfect score of 100%. This drew immediate attention and great respect from his peers. German moved to Detroit in 1969 to join the rest of his family and worked at DANA Corporation, and later retired from Mount Carmel Hospital. German became an accountant, he was a valuable resource to his family, often preparing annual taxes. He is preceded by his mother; Sarah (Amy) Martin-Peterson; brother (Owen); sister (Ruth); Nelly Rose and Lucy (ex-wife and their daughter), and (ex-wife) Rafaela Sinclair Caballero. He is survived by his (wife) Donna; (sister) Lydia: (brother)Vincent; (children) Janey, David, Raquel and German; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grand child children and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. His greatest contribution was his strong relationship with God and his commitment to daily worship.
