Obituary of Ruth Johanna Elisabeth Albrecht
Ruth Albrecht was born on February 28, 1936 in Munich, Germany. At age 14 she began as an apprentice for BMW Motorcycle in Munich. She left war torn Germany after World War II, at age 19, with relatives to seek a better life in the United States. Mutual friends introduced her and her future husband John; they were devoted to each other for 63 years. Ruth had an extremely upbeat and outgoing personality, capable of striking up a conversation with anyone. She had many passions in her life, first and foremost was her family. She had a beautiful voice and in her younger days sang with the Rackham Choir in Detroit. Other passions were gardening, cooking, animals, and a strong interest in health and medicine. She was a volunteer at Beaumont Hospital for over 30 years. Affectionately known as "Dr. Ruth", she researched health innovations, striving to keep her friends and family healthy by passing along a wealth of knowledge from this research. Ruth is survived by her husband John, daughter Dawn, son David, daughter-in-law Monica, grandchildren Jessica, Matthew and Daine, brother Arnulf and cousin Edith. A funeral service will be held Monday December 2nd, at 11:30 am at St. Regis Catholic Church 3691 Lincoln Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, contributions in her name be sent to the Michigan Humane Society.
