Obituary of Ellen A Rapin

In the early morning of July 27, 2021 Ellen Patricia Rapin, 91, returned to our Heavenly Father. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Born June 7, 1930, in Detroit to Carl “Jack” and Ellen Ambrose, she lived her whole life in Michigan. She is preceded in her death by the love of her life and husband of more than 57 years, Frank Rapin. For the duo nothing was more important than family, and above all else Ellen wanted her’s to be happy.

Ellen’s personality matched her outfits, both were sparkly. She enjoyed travel with her husband, playing bingo, and trips to the casino. Among her hobbies was painting, with her work be featured at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. 

Nothing made Ellen happier than spending time with family. From trips up north to holiday get togethers she enjoyed being surrounded by those she loved. Anytime a grandchild or great grandchild would visit, they would leave with slightly heavier pockets, mostly from candy and Dove Chocolates.  

Everyone will always remember Ellen’s positive outlook on life, her sense of humor, and her unrelenting generosity toward others.

Ellen leaves behind seven children- Diane (Earl Guzak), Ron, Jack (Yvonne), Mike, Ellen (Mike Carlson), Patrick (Donna), Denise (Steve McKenzie)- as well as 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, at the Historical Church across the St John the Baptist Catholic Church at 20990 N. Hacker Rd., Howell, MI 48855. On Thursday Sept 23 2021 at 11am with visitation prior to Mass at 10am. Burial will follow in the St Johns Catholic Cemetery.
