Obituary of Annemarie Marlene Carter
Annemarie Marlene Klohd Carter went home to be with our Heavenly Father on November 28, 2021, and to be reunited with her loved ones who passed before her. Annemarie was born January 27, 1934, in Wailau, Germany. She was the youngest of three daughters. During the tumultuous time of WWII, Annemarie and her family fled to Hamburg, Germany where they rebuilt their lives. She lived there until her early 20’s. Annemarie went on to study business and did some modeling early in her career.
Annemarie married Jay Carter while he served in the U.S Army in Germany in the early 1950’s. They joined their hearts and hands in marriage, and started their journey together in the U.S., after Jay’s military service. Annemarie and Jay lived the best years of their lives in Moab, Utah where they raised three daughters, Ava, Claudia and Monica. Jay and Annemarie were both entrepreneurs and long-time members of the community. Annemarie owned and operated a clothing store, Fashion Boutique, for 12 years. She was also a skilled seamstress and loved knitting. She was often called upon to assist and translate for German tourists. Annemarie moved to Eagle, ID in 2013 to be near her daughter, Claudia, and then in 2016 she moved to Michigan where she spent her last 5 years near her daughter, Monica. Annemarie enjoyed spending time with family, taking long walks and delighting in the beauty of nature.
Annemarie is survived by her daughters, Claudia Williams (Don), Monica Hershey (Tad), granddaughters, Kristie Stephens and Haley Hershey, and great granddaughter, Elizabeth Stephens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay (1981), her parents, her sisters, her eldest child, Ava (2015) and her eldest granddaughter, Lindsey Luhrs (2002). Annemarie was loving, caring, smart, creative, gentle and kind. Our Mom, Oma, Great Oma will be greatly missed. We find peace in the loving memories we created and shared with her.
