Obituary of Elizabeth Mary McCaffrey

Elizabeth Mary Beaumont McCaffrey, “Betty”, was born in Edinburgh Scotland on February 24, 1930. 

She was a graduate of The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh School of Nursing. Also a graduate of Leeds School of Nursing for Midwifery. 

Betty met Richard McCaffrey in Detroit, Michigan while working her way around the world with her two best friends. They married in 1958 and had two children. 

In 1995 she retired from Oakland County Children’s Village as the Medical Supervisor.

She is survived by Maureen Ditri (Joseph) and Bryan McCaffrey (Patricia). Loving grandmother to Colleen Denhof, Guy Ditri, Claire Mccaffrey, Richard Ditri, Kristina Swindells and Neal Mccaffrey.  Also to her great grandchildren, Liam, Logan, Luke, Leah, Audrey, Lilly and Vinny. 

Betty enjoyed Ladies Aid at Historic Trinity and volunteer nursing there. She loved traveling, humor, food but mostly her family AND chocolate. 

Elizabeth passed away on January 3, 2022. She will be interned at Historic Trinity in Detroit. 

Mom was a collection of all her years, her stories, her glories, her troubles and tears.

She was a connection to faraway places that live on in thoughts, of good times and dear faces 

Of love that she’d brought.
