Obituary of Eleanor Helen Plachta
Eleanor Plachta, 95, a long-time resident of Midland, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at WellBridge of Pinckney. She was born on February 12, 1927, in Detroit, MI, to Helen (Mikolajczak) and Adolf Owczarzak. Eleanor graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Mount Clemens and had a long career as a Labor and Delivery nurse in Bay City, Detroit and Midland hospitals. She also worked at Town and Country Nursing Home in Midland for a number of years before she retired. After retirement, Eleanor traveled to Israel, a country she had always wanted to visit. She enjoyed movies, books about celebrities, garage sales, people watching, and attending Mass at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Midland. She was also an avid conversationalist with a keen sense of humor. During her retirement years, she enjoyed taking daily walks and continued this until her recent illness. Eleanor was predeceased by her sons Mark and Jeffery and is survived by her other children; Matthew (Beth), Terry Phillips (Ed), Bryon and Wayne, 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Burial will take place at New Calvary Cemetery in Midland this summer with a private family service
