Joanne (Jo to her many friends) was a Chi Omega Sorority sister with my wife, Marcella Fodell Haney. She was always a kind and gracious person, interested in what was happening with her friends and supported many worthy causes. In 1960 she and husband Dick hosted an event at their home on a topic of considerable national interest, a debate between presidential candidates John F. Kennedy and Richard M. Nixon. Jo's congenial manner kept strong emotions on both ends of the political spectrum under control.
In later years, we were not in touch often with Jo and Dick, except for an occasional Chi Omega reunion. However, Marcy did get reports on them from mutual friends and always had a high and warm regard for Jo.
